About Us
BeerCat was established in 2012.
The brewery is housed in an old wine press in the Penedès region, 50km south of Barcelona, in Catalonia, the independent-minded region in the north east corner of Spain which borders France.
The company was co-founded by Peter Bonner and Martina Molloy with the aim of producing quality beers and of combining the best of the English real ale brewing traditions with the innovations of the nascent Spanish craft beer movement.
Passionate about beer, our aim is to provide a real alternative to the industrially-produced brands offered by the Spanish brewing giants who have traditionally dominated the market. At the same time we aim to provide the UK drinker with something fresh and exciting from the Mediterranean.
The Penedès region of Catalonia is already known for its wine, cava and olive oil; BeerCat intends to add beer to that illustrious list and to make this exciting region a destination for beer-lovers.
BeerCat will eventually offer residential brewing courses to include an introduction to brewing theory and technique, hands-on practical sessions and visits to other microbreweries. BeerCat is a small company which uses only the purest natural ingredients and is committed to excellence, sustainability and respect for the environment and the local community.
